ART AND CRAFT WEEK CELEBRATIONS
Class III-VIII
19-23 August, 2019
“Imagination is more important than knowledge.”
K.R. Mangalam World School celebrated Art and Craft Week to stimulate the young minds. Various activities were designed to provide a platform to enhance the artistic capabilities of the young creative minds. Although arts and crafts often fit together, they are different processes; whereas art involves unstructured activities in which one can explore with one’s imagination, craft involve structured activities with a specific goal in mind. As the child creates a work of art, s/he begins the process of communicating visually, build problem-solving skills, fine motor skills and even social skills.
The young participants enjoyed the craft activities planned for them; paper mask making (grade III), paper bag making (grade IV) and craft with plastic bottles(grade V).With exposure to these various types of crafts, the youngsters developed their own individual craftsmanship interests. Through their craftsmanship, they refined and strengthened their skills.
As the primary section engaged them in craft activities, the middle school students picked up their paintbrush and created vivid paintings through Mandala Art (grade VI), Worli Art (grade VII) and Gond Art (grade VIII). The youngsters learnt about symbolic communication through the art they created, choosing various colors to communicate feelings. The confident brushstrokes proved that creativity takes courage.
