K.R. Mangalam world school organized a two days workshop for the teachers on the topic- “Performing Arts”. The workshop was organized in the K.R. Mangalam world school, G.K. branch where respective teachers of all the branches were present. The session began with some interesting activities including the morning sessions to be conducted in the classroom along with the kids. The main purpose of including this activity was to engage each and every child into the class. The session mainly focused on the interactive teaching methods to be used in the class. As every child has individual learning pace so teacher should use all these methods to fulfill the learning motive. Learning should be a lifelong process, which help the child to retain his knowledge throughout his life. So Story telling is also a best way to teach children and fulfill the objective.
Story telling also helps a teacher to make the classroom:
• Interactive
• Long lasting learning
• Creates the interest in the children
• Helps in increasing the concentration level of the children
• Helps in creating imagination in minds of the children
• Helps in learning moral values, different concepts and good and bad for them.
One of the most common point she discussed was – Time management. She explained that you can call few students and make few groups in the classroom and ask them to create their own story on a common topic and later on discuss their stories.
The workshop concluded with this thought that teachers should comprehend the child’s mind and try various ways to reach their level to enlighten and assess their knowledge and the topics discussed were not only required for the evaluation of child’s ability but it is important to foster quality learning to a make the school child friendly.
