PRESS RELEASE
ANNUAL SPORTS DAY
BLAZE OF GLORY 2019

K.R Mangalam World School Faridabad celebrated its first annual sports day “Blaze of Glory on February 16, 2019 with great zeal and fervor. The overcast sky failed to dent the enthusiasm of the students, staff and parents as they welcomed the Chief Guest Mr. Bheem Singh, Olympian and Arjuna Awardee and the Guest of Honor, Mr. Rajkumar Sharma, eminent cricketer and coach under the Haryana Sports Department with a loud roar of appreciation. The celebrations started with hoisting of the school Flag followed by the school song. The spectators remained spellbound at their seats as the march past began. Synchronizing their steps to the tune of Ode to Joy played by the school’s musical band, the Head Boy, Master Arnav Sharma, Head Miss Bhoomi Singh, Sports Captain Master Abner Jacob along with the house captains of the four houses (Emerald, Ruby, Sapphire and Topaz) led their contingents in the field. The Sacred flame of the games was then lit by the Guests, which represented the endeavor for perfection and symbolized the light of spirit, knowledge, and life. After the Chief Guest declared the meet open and released the mascot of the games ‘Hardy’ into the blue sky, the participants reaffirmed their pledge towards maintaining the true spirit of sportsmanship, integrity and fair play in the games. The lighting of the auspicious lamp heralded a propitious start to the day when it was followed by a welcome song, dance and speech by the students. As the day unfolded, the spectators were a witness to a vibrant display of sports and culture. While the preprimary and primary sections enthralled the spectators with their skillful frog dance, umbrella dance, fan dance and yoga postures, the middle school displayed their dexterity in their football drill, lazium, and zumba and taekwondo skills. The parents were then treated to the spectacle of races where the little ones tried their best to outdo each other. The parents as well as the guests too applauded the efforts of the middle school runners as they breasted the tape. Prize distribution followed the races where the winners were acknowledged and participants were encouraged. The best House Trophy was bagged by Ruby House.

In her speech, School Principal Ms. Manmit Behel Sabharwal welcomed the guests and parents and shared the vision of the school with them. She encouraged the parents to work along the school in providing conducive facilities to the students who are active in sports and urged the guests to mentor them as and when required. While the Chief Guest lauded the efforts of the school for providing a plethora of sports activities, he also urged the parents to encourage their ward towards taking up any sport for their physical and mental wellbeing. The Guest of Honor too stressed on the need to maintain a balance between academic and sports activities. The school report highlighted the achievements of the students and received a loud round of applause. The eventful day ended with the vote of thanks and National Anthem.
