TheGerman Cultural and Literary Fest, ‘Deutsch Jamboree’was organized byK.R. Mangalam World School, G.K-II in collaboration with Goethe Institute, Max Mueller Bhavan, on Friday, July 26, 2019.With over 150 participants from 8 schools of Delhi-NCR, the day was indeed momentous to celebrate.

The event commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp. This was followed by the inaugural dance which was a fascinatingfusion of multiculturalism, beautifully presented by the endowed dancers of the school. In her welcome address the Principal,Dr. Sangeeta Arora,accentuatedupon the school’s role inbroadening empathy, cultural outlook and a holistic vision towards the development of each child. A euphoric rendition, ‘Jetzt Geht Es Los’,was presented by the school’s zestful performers which left the audience enthralled.The dignitaries from Gothe Institute, Max Muller Bhavan, appreciated the efforts of the students and motivatedthem with their words of wisdom.

The guests for the event,Ms. Veronika Tarazinskaja and Ms. Vibhuti Sukhramani,Goethe Institute, Max Mueller Bhavan, New Delhi, presided over as honorary judges for the competitions that were organized as a part of the event.

After the formal announcement of the event to be open,students from various schools enthusiastically participated in competitions like LACHEN IST GESUND(a comedy skit), MUSIK MARATHON (song & band) and KOCHEN MACHT SPAβ! (preparing a German dish).

The program, concluded with the much-awaited prize and certificate distribution ceremony wherein the dignitaries felicitated the outstanding achieversfor their commendable performances. K.R. Mangalam World School, G.K-II bagged the first position and passed on their rolling trophy to DPS, Noidawho secured the second position. The eventful day concluded with the valedictory function in which Ms. Swati Kalra Singh, the Head of German Department, proposed the vote of thanks.The program culminated with the rendition of the national anthem.

A counselling session was conducted in K.R. Mangalam World School, G.K-II,on July 24,2019,by the school council members and prefects of classXII.The girls of classes VIII to XI participated in the session.The interaction was called on for sensitizing the students about the harmful effects of excessive use of social media and the impact it has on their lives.Gracey Sachdeva,the Head Girl,strongly emphasised that girls should be aware of the pros and cons of using Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook etc., sharing photos and important information about themselves. She also encouraged the girls to take a step forward and voice out their problems and share it with their immediate close ones. The school counsellorshared her views regarding the same and made an appeal to all the girls that courage is the fire that can help one fight for their self-esteem.

Helping Elders At Home
K.R.Mangalam World school G.k II, believes sensitizing the students and making them into caring and responsible individuals. Keeping this in mind,the students of K.G Classes were involved in the activity of ‘Helping Elders At Home’ on Wednesday, 31st July 2019.They pasted pictures of themselves helping their elders in doing daily chores.They spoke a few lines relating their learning experiences about the same.

‘The Earth is a fine place and worth fighting for.’

K.R. Mangalam World School, G.K-II organised a workshop for the students of class IX on July 23, 2019. The topic of the workshop was ‘Waste Management’ and it was conductedby the Chintan Group. The workshop primarily focussed on the awareness building exercise in students and emphasised on the terms like ‘waste’ and ‘ways’ of managing the same. The resource person shared information on waste and its types, waste segregation and explained terms like one-time plastic, single-use plastic, landfill, disposal of waste. She also discussed with the students on how to ensure least pollution in water bodies, soil etc. The 45 minutes session was quite an interactive one and studentswere encouraged to share their views and ideas on waste management.

Kick the cup Alphabet Activity
K.R. Mangalam World School, GK II aims to develop knowledge of every student by equipping them with right tools and resources. To reinforce gross motor skills like balance and coordination ‘Kick the cup Alphabet Activity ‘ was conducted in the classroom.
The ball theme alphabet activity is fun way to practice identifying letters while kicking the ball.

Limitations live only in our minds.
But if we use our imagination,our possibilities becomes limitless.

Competitions are a fusion of talent, imagination, creativity and alertness. Whether it is art, music, creative writing or debate, the activities help to bring out the uniqueness of each individual. Keeping up with this thought K.R. Mangalam World School, G.K-II organised various Inter-House Competitions on 19 July 2019 for the students of the Middle School and Senior School.The Poster Making Competition helped to gauge the students’ creativity and awareness quotient.Students of classes VI to VIII participated in the competition and displayed their artistic skills through an array of posters on the themes ‘World of Books’ or ‘Awareness of Waterborne Diseases’.

Spontaneity and confidence are the hallmark of any competition. An Inter-House Essay Writing Competition was held for the students of classes VI to VIII. In the English category the students were asked to write an essay on anyone of the topics- ‘Books versus E-books’ and ‘Social Media and Bullying’. The Hindi category comprised of the topics ‘PustakonkaMehtav’ and ‘Vigyapanoki Shakti’. The essay was judged on the basis of the student’s content, expression, accuracy and vocabulary. The purpose of the competition was to encourage the students to enhance their thinking and writing skills. The students showcased originality and good command over the languages.

Extempore is one such method which assists the students not only in thinking on their own but also in voicing their creative ideas with precision. To imbibe a true spirit of learning in students and to enhance the communication skills in them, an Inter House Extempore Competition, was held at KR Mangalam world School,G.K – II on 19th July, 2019 during the zero period for classes IX and XI.Jovita(XI-C) of Ruby House emerged as the winner of the competition which was followed by Radhika and Akshay of Emerald and Sapphire Houses bagging the second and the third position respectively.

“Children are likely to live up to what you believe of them”.
Inter- House competitions paves the way for our students to rejuvenate their spirits, remain rooted to the moral values and unleash their vitality.In the month of July 2019,various Inter- House Competitions, held within the school premises.
The well planned competitions were conducted focusing on brushing up students’ talents. Each child was given the opportunity and the platform to display his/her talent and present themselves as individuals. Guided by their mentors,the competitions included creative writing in which Ruby house bagged the first position, another competition titled ‘Poem Recitation (English)’ was also conducted in which Ruby and Topaz house shared the first position. InHindi Poem Recitation, Sapphire house won the first position.
These competition developed a feeling of affiliation and unity among students.
