JUNIOR SPORTS EXTRAVAGANZA ‘GATI…EK UDAAN’
Keep going, keep moving and never give up spirit makes the Mangalamites have an edge in all their endeavors. K. R. Mangalam World School, G.K-II celebrated its Annual Cultural splendour ‘Gati- Ek Udaan…a fusion of vigour and patriotism, celebration and euphoria, on 17 November, 2018.The occasion was graced by the benign presence of Smt. Tilotama Verma, IPS, Additional Director, Wildlife Crime Control Bureau, Ministry of Environment as the Chief Guest of the day, Ms. Preetika Sharma, a national level gymnastic coach and co-founder of Bodsphere as the Guest of Honour, Shri Abhishek Gupta, Member Management Committee, KRM Group of Schools and Shri Ashok Arora, KRM Group of Schools.
The programme commenced with the guard of honour to the Chief Guest. Euphoria and ecstasy came live with the zest and prowess of the talented stars on the rendition of the musical encomium, ‘Jaya Jai Hai Bhagwati Sur Bharati’. The stage set the right tone and atmosphere with a concoction of the popular dance forms presented by the students of classes IV and V. Extending a warm welcome to all the distinguished guests, the principal, Dr. Sangeeta Arora, congratulated and encouraged the vivacious learners for putting up such a spectacular show. She exhorted that real learning and attaining excellence in any field is the result of high intention, sincere effort and intelligent execution. This was followed by an energetic yoga performance performed by the students of class V and an athletic act ‘Pomping the Pom’ wherein the tiny tots of class III showcased their adroitness and poise as they synchronized the beat of the vibrant and colourful pom poms with the rhythm of music. The fearless fighters of Class III with their strong punches and high kicks proved their grit by showcasing varied acts of self-defence. The spectacle of the Dupatta Drill and Hoopla Drill created by the students of class IV with their vibrant hues was indeed breath-taking.
Various track events like 4x100m Relay Race, Sack Race, Lemon Race, Dress Up Race etc. were held wherein the young athletes of KRM proved their mettle and triumphed over their peers. The participation of parents in the races was an added charm to the event. This was followed by a scintillating Lezim dance performance, where the students of class V enthralled one and all. Unceasing applause engulfed the arena with the much-awaited prize distribution ceremony wherein the worthy Chief Guest, Smt Tilotama Verma addressed the gathering and bestowed the prizes to the most deserving athletes. She emphasized on the need to keep abreast with the changes as a global citizen. She further commended the efforts of students and motivated them to keep accepting challenges and feel the exhilaration of victory. ‘Fusion’ -the grand finale was a visual treat as the charismatic performers splendidly gave a visual treat with their riveting performance.
The program culminated with the Primary School Coordinator, Ms. Gunjan Singh proposing the vote of thanks.
