MATH WEEK
The School observed the Mathematics week from 15 November to 17 November 2019. The School had organized a plethora of activities for all level. The students had an enriching time at the class activities planned during this time.
CLASS 4 – LADDER OF TANGRAMS MAKING ACTIVITY
As a part of Maths Week celebrations and to foster an intuitive sense of geometry, improve spatial skills and boost mathematics performance, a Tangrams making activity was organized on November 17 , 2019 for class IV. To enhance the creativity, the students were encouraged to form the figures using the cut outs of the complete set of seven tans that included two large triangles, two small triangles, a medium sized triangle, a parallelogram, and a square in such a way that all the tans were used and each tan laid flat on the workspace without overlapping.
Students selected a figure of his/her choice and made a tangram.
The ending letter of the first figure was the starting letter of the second figure .( For eg: A student makes a tangram of Chair . The last letter of this figure is R , so the student has to make the second figure which starts with R .The student can make a tangram of a Rabbit . )
Thus, the little ones had great fun making the Tangrams and it activated their creative best.
CLASS 5 – FINDING PERIMETER
During the activity, the students were provided with the two shapes and were asked to trace the given shapes on square lined paper/square centimetre paper or graph paper. They were further encouraged to calculate the perimeter of the given shapes.
This activity further helped to strengthen the concept of Perimeter.
REPORT ON THE INTER-HOUSE MODEL MAKING COMPETITION
The Inter-House Model Making Competition was organized on the 22nd of November 2019, for the students of classes VI-VIII, in continuation of the Science and Maths week of the school.
Model making was an activity that involved conceptual as well as theoretical knowledge to make learning and retention more profound and strong. The students got an array of material to make their astounding models. This activity brought forth the creativity and artistry of the students and gave them an opportunity to display their talent. The students enjoyed doing this activity.
REPORT ON THE INTER-HOUSE MATHEMATICAL RANGOMETRY COMPETITION.
The Inter-House Mathematical Rangometry Competition was conducted on 22 November, 2019 for classes VI-VIII.
The students were asked to get various materials like pulses or anything that they could devise, to make symmetrical designs, thereby giving an idea about their comprehension and understanding of the concepts taught in class. The students were seen actively and enthusiastically engaged in the activity.
