REPORT OF CAREER COUNSELLING WORKSHOP

Imagination is the beginning of creation

Design is a journey of discovery and this century belongs to creativity and innovation. The engagement to shape the future has become intense and pervasive. Every aspect of life demands a new perspective, a new approach and new solutions. To experience constantly the better, young designers work with a greater thrust. Keeping up with the same a workshop on ‘Design as a Career’ was organised on July 16, 2019 by K.R. Mangalam World School, G.K-II for the Humanities stream students of Class XI. The workshop was conducted by Ms. Meenakshi, Administrative Head, Trendz Academy, New Delhi.

The resource person emphasised on the fact that the world of business and industry requires people with fresh perspectives. Hence specialised training combined with creative strengths will be the best sought-after combination in the job market.All that the student needs to do is assess if he or she has the instinct and passion for an offbeat career, and then they can pick the preferred domain and seek mentoring to realise their dream. She also discussed with the students about the various types of courses on Design and as to how they can prepare and crack the exam to get admission into a particular designing institute. The workshop ended with students asking queries related to the various career options in the field of Design. It was an informative session.

REPORT OF STREAM SELECTION WORKSHOP

Decisions are the toughest thing to make especially when it is a choice between where one should be and where one aspires to be. K.R. Mangalam World School, G.K. II remains committed in helping every learner trudge their own path into the threshold of the future. In pursuit of the same, the school organized a workshop on Stream Selection and Career Counselling for the students of Class X, on July 16, 2019.he workshop was conducted by Ms. Ruby Saurahkiafrom RAYS Career which empowers Students & Young Professionals. They emphasized on the fact that education is just not the harbinger for sustenance but it is also about pursuing the true essence of one’s life.

The motto of the workshop was to help the students make informed decision. The session covered various facets of career choice and its determining factors such as aptitude and interest, availability of opportunity and inherent potential. Urging the students to believe in their strengths and follow their passion, the resource people also threw light on the various skills required for pursuing a particular career, and how a combination of such skills is essential for success in a field. Further the students were introduced to the various career paths available under the categories Humanities, Science, Commerce, Vocational Skills and new careers based on competitive exams. It was indeed an enriching experience for all the students.

The workshop was conducted by Smriti Dhingra, Tanya Sharma and Saheba Priyadarshni, experts from Cogito Hub Career Testing Platform which empowers Students & Young Professionals. They emphasized on the fact that education is just not the harbinger for sustenance but it is also about pursuing the true essence of one’s life.

Do it – Remember it.

An interactive, fun filled and activity based workshop was conducted for the students of classes V-X on 16 October 2018 on ‘Developing Speaking Skills’ by Enablify India. The workshop aimed at enhancing the communication skills of the students and hone their personalities to bring out their leadership skills. In today’s competitive world, it is imperative to have the right skills for interaction so that one may climb notches in their careers and gain popularity and due recognition. This goal was achieved through a series of activities, like storytelling, dramatization, recitation and group discussions. The students were very keen to participate in them and learnt to create a win-win situation for the student-school ecosystem.

We at KRMWS make sure that all-round development of students involves a lot of learning. The school promotes workshops to enhance the potential of its students.

Write To win; a unique handwriting workshop conducted by Cello Gel Pens for the students of classes IV and V in the school premises on Monday, 15 October 2018.  The workshop aimed at empowering students with techniques that can help them develop great handwriting skills and promote a healthy attitude towards learning and taking exams especially with the transition from pencil to pen.  The students were engaged in various hands-on handwriting exercises to understand the physical and cognitive processes involved in writing precisely and fluently.  The students were given activity sheets to practice various strokes which can help them to have a steady hand.  They were even told about how to calculate the speed of handwriting.

WORKSHOP ON ANTI BULLYING FOR CLASSES 3-5
DATE – 6 AUGUST 2018

SPEAKER : Tanushree Sangma is an Expressive Art Based Therapist and Counselling Psychologist at Fortis Hospital,Vasant Kunj. She has done her Masters in Psychology from University of Delhi and holds a CID- UNESCO Certification in Dance & Movement Therapy. She has conducted workshops for school students and trainees using creative art based methods. She holds interest in working with school students and groups on issues around emotional and psychological well being.  

The workshop started with a general appraisal of the students , their well being and student life. She interacted with them and asked them regarding what they knew about bullying and discussed that always 3 people are involved in bullying- bully, victim and bystander. Then types of bullying were being discussed- physical, verbal, cyber and social relational bullying and how it affects the mindset of students in different ways. Then the places were being discussed where bullying takes place i.e. bus, corridors, classroom. She talked to them and asked them to stand for themselves and learn to say NO. She asked them to form an Anti Bullying Squad in their classroom and start working for it . Later she told them who to ask for help when in such situation and also asked the students to be a buddy instead of bully.

CAREER COUNSELLING WORKSHOP AT K.R. MANGALAM WORLD SCHOOL, G.K-II

Career Counselling Workshop

It has rightly been said that the guidance of the parents as well as the teachers can perfectly support a child in the most crucial life changing years of school. It is then imperative that these two pillars meet and understand what’s best for their wards. In pursuit of the same, a Career Counselling Workshop was organized by K.R. Mangalam World School, G.K-II on 28 January 2017 for the students and parents of Class X to assist them in the choice of subjects to be taken in Class XI. The workshop was conducted by Ms Chhavi Mittal, a Research Scholar from the Department of Psychology, University of Delhi. She apprised the parents and the students about various courses available in streams like Science, Commerce and Humanities. The Principal, Ms Alka Awasthi, enumerated the role of parents in deciding a right career path for their children that is in tune with their skills and job experiences.  The workshop concluded with the question and answer session.

K.R. Mangalam World School, G.K-II organised an interactive session for students by the proficient Cyber Crime Team of The Delhi Police on 18 November 2016  .The officials discussed the various possibilities of account hacking and also emphasised on the importance of being aware of their surroundings. It was an initiative by the Delhi Police to spread awareness particularly amongst the teenagers in order to reduce cybercrime cases. The officers highlighted the need for children to keep in touch with their parents about the details of their accounts on Facebook, Whatsapp etc.

WORKSHOP ON ‘BASICS OF FILMMAKING’

K.R.Mangalam World School, G.K-II conducted a workshop on Basics of Filmmaking, for the students of classes VI, VII and VIII on 2 September 2016.

The Resource Person Ms. Prerna Langa came to enlighten the students with the process of filmmaking using simple audio-video recording devices (including touch-screen mobile phones) to create compelling short films and workflow of film production.

Ms. Langa enumerated myriad examples to highlight the importance of key media interventions, relevant points when making a social film, using film as a communication resource.

The students were impressed by what the representatives had to say. Some of them even asked questions to gain supplementary information about the various processes. The workshop was enriching and was managed adroitly.

CAREER COUNSELING WORKSHOP

The career path adopted by the students should be one which compliments one’s life the best. Hence it is imperative to opt for the right kind of course and university which will facilitate one’s career. With the same objective in mind, K.R.Mangalam World School, G.K-II conducted a workshop on Career Counseling for the students of class XII on 23 August, 2016.

The representatives of the University College of Dublin came to enlighten the students with the kind of courses offered by their colleges. Prof. Jees spoke about the myriad academic programmes offered by the UCD which have an astonishing range of flexible options to select from. He also talked about the on campus job selections which allow students to pursue careers in their desired fields. The students interacted with the educators regarding career options which could meet them after the completion of the desired programme.
