Basant Panchami
The festival of Basant Panchami ,which marks the end of winter and the onset of spring is celebrated on the fifth day (Panchami) of the Hindu month of Magha. This day is considered to be the birthday of Goddess Saraswati, as she is said to have appeared on earth to eradicate the sadness of all living beings, through the gift of speech. This is why Goddess Saraswati, the deity of knowledge, music, arts, science and technology is worshipped on this day
K.R Mangalam World School ,Greater Noida commemorated this special day with great fervor on the 22nd of January .Keeping the tradition of inculcating values in today’s modern times, the school organized a havan to venerate Goddess Saraswati and invoke her blessings. The children devotionally rendered the “Saraswati Vandana’ as they implored the goddess to bestow the gift of knowledge and wisdom on them and all those associated with the institution. The pooja ended with the ‘ Arti’ and the distribution of ‘Prasad’
As part of the activity for the day , the significance of Basant Panchami was explained to the students.Its association with the yellow colour, the blooming of mustard flowers and the arrival of spring were also elaborated .
