ANNUAL SPORTS DAY

K.R. Mangalam World School, Gurugram witnessed its annual sports day “ENTHUSIA” on 19 January 2018. The fantastic turnout from the parents and the pleasant weather were the perfect boost for the students on their sports day. The event was honored by the presence of world renowned Paralympics shotput silver medalist and Padma shree awardee Ms. Deepa Malik and Mr Rajkumar Sangwan, a gold medalist and Arjuna Awardee in boxing and our respected chairman Sir Mr. Inder Dev Gupta. The chief guests along with the Chairman Sir and Principal ma’am were escorted for Plantation ceremony, carrying on the tradition of KRM of contributing towards green environment and wellness of nature. Parents as well as students were elated to meet these inspiring personalities. The Honorable guests were welcomed with planters by the school Principal. The meet was initiated with the releasing of balloons and beautifully decorated placard bearing the School’s name. The Principal and our eminent guests also took salute of the impressive March Past by achievers of the school. This was entailed by the raising of the school flag and declaration of meet open by our chief guest Ms. Deepa Malik. The students entered into the spirit of the occasion in a grand way with the oath being administered by the special guest of the day.
A peppy dance drill set the tone for the rest of the event. Then, the much awaited track and field events started. As the budding athletes of KRM ran for the finishing line, the school campus reverberated with enthusiastic cheers from the spectators. The air was filled with cheering and tons of encouragement for the young athletes. Students of classes VI to XI competed class-wise and house-wise in events including sprints and Relay races. To add excitement and fervour, the children performed taekwondo and Zumba which captivated the audience. Apart from commemorating victories, sports meets also aim at imparting lessons on sportsman spirit and camaraderie to children and such a show was put up by our budding athletes.The event concluded with our guests, congratulating the winners with medals and certificates and an inspiring speech by our distinguished chief guests where in Ms. Deepa Malik was superlative in her praise for the March past done. She opined, “Sports is an important part of life because it inculcates discipline and feeling of belongingness in hearts and spoke of having Ability beyond Disability.” She also emphasized on significance of what we hold inside that leads to overall development of an individual”. Mr. Rajkumar Sangwan delivered a motivational speech stating “Sports is a hand on learning experience to prepare students for competition of life”. Our honorable principal ma’am Ms Priya Arora shared a heartfelt gratitude to our chief guests for their inspiring words and noteworthy presence. The day ended on a cheerful note heralding the year 2018 filled with blessings for young athletes.
