NGO VISIT REPORT
The Earth Saviours Foundation is an Internationally recognized NGO, situated in Gurugram, Haryana, India. It was founded in 2008 by Ravi Kalra. Nine students of grade 11th along with two teachers from K.R.Mangalam world school were honoured to be called for a visit to the Gurukul.
We all visited the place on 22nd of December with a lot of zeal and enthusiasm of doing something good for our community. Mr. Ravi Kalra gave us a warm welcome and showed us the entire property. All the old uncles and aunties were very happy to see us. We spent some time with them and heard all their life experiences patiently. The happiness on their faces filled our souls with pride and satisfaction as all their life these elders have dealt with a lot of pain and hatred.
We got loads of goodies for them . We distributed muffins to all. Moreover we provided shawls, mufflers and caps to the ones who were in need.
Here are some of the missions that the NGO is working on:
- Old age home to look after homeless – abandoned senior citizens.
- Rescue center to look after mentally disabled people.
- “Do Not Honk” campaign to reduce noise pollution by educating drivers not to honk unnecessarily while driving.
- Jia Nari Niketan shelter to look after deprived females.
- Battle to save environment and its habitats.
We hope that we as a community can help one another grow and end these social problems.
One can totally agree with the fact that this trip was an eye opener for all of us, as we don’t often see or deal with harsh realities of life. It is difficult to see our elders left in such terrible conditions by their children.
This was a great visit for us students, and we hope in the future we get to go for more such visits.
