K.R.MANGALAM WORLD SCHOOL, VIKASPURI HOSTS AUSTRALIAN DELEGATES
Exchange isn’t a year in your life; it’s a life in a year.
The Indo-Australian Exchange programme between K.R. Mangalam World School and Trinity Lutheran College entered its second phase on 28th Sept.2019 with the arrival of five Australian students and one teacher delegate from Trinity Lutheran College Queensland, Australia for a fourteen day visit to K.R. Mangalam World School, Vikaspuri.
The delegation was accorded a traditional welcome in the school. The highlight of the assembly was the orchestra and Indian cultural dance performance by the students of K. R. M Vikaspuri.
To introduce the students to Indian culture and take them beyond the confines of the classroom, the school arranged sessions on instrumental & vocal music, classical dance, art & craft, cookery and Hindi. To gain hands on experience of the Australian way of teaching, the teacher delegate from Australia, Ms.NatalieBuzaglo, took a session on geographical features in Australia, for the students of the middle wing. The experiential learning gained through this exchange was informative and enlightening.
The students were also taken on a tour of the historical monuments in Delhi, Agra and Jaipur to enhance their understanding of India and its culture. A yoga session was also part of the schedule. The basketball match brought in cheer and camaraderie among the participants, strengthening the bond made over the period of the stay.
By participating in the student exchange the participants got an opportunity to immerse themselves in a new environment, experience a new culture, learn and understand the different educational systems, to network, travel, make new friends and get a ‘second family’. The Australian delegate departed with tears having found brothers, sisters and friends for life
The next phase of this exchange programme would see the Indian partner students visit the Australian school in the year 2020.
