Manpreet Singh of K.R.Mangalam World School, Vikaspuri has qualified the prestigious Orientation Cum Selection Camp (OCSC) held at HomiBhabha Centre for Science Education, Mumbai.He will be representing India in the 16th International Junior Science Olympiad at Doha, Qatar in the month of December, 2019. The International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO), a purely educational event, is an annual individual and team competition in the Natural Sciences for students. IJSO has been established in recognition of the significance of the Natural Sciences in the general education of young people and in all aspects of their lives.
Every year a six membered team is invited from every country.Manpreet Singh cleared the three staged examination conducted in India, to select this team. The first stage is National Standard Examination in Juniors Sciences(NSEJS) which was conducted in Nov 2018 and Manpreet was one of the only 300 odd students selected, from all over India.
The second stage is INJSO(Indian National Junior Science Olympiad) where Manpreet along with the other 300 selected students were subjected to a tough theory and MCQ exam. He cleared the INJSO conducted in January 2019 and was among the select 39 students shortlisted for stage III.
The third stage was theOrientation Cum Selection Camp (OCSC), conducted by HomiBhabha Centre for Science Education, Mumbai. It was conducted from 2nd to 17th May 2019 In this camp students were given sixteen theory and practical exams and finally six students were selected to represent India in the 16thIJSO 2019 to be held at Doha, Qatar in Dec. 2019, organized by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in collaboration with Qatar University. Manpreet along with other bright students , from more than 50 countries around the world, will meet during the Science Olympiad to test their knowledge and skills in physics, biology and chemistry.
