Inter School Chess Tournament

K.R. Mangalam World School Faridabad focuses on value based holistic education, man making and nation building. It provides a platform to realize the hard work and talent of students. In house competitions are held every month to determine the academic as well as co-curricular competency of the students. Students are also encouraged to compete at various inter -school competitions to showcase their talents and win laurels for the school.
Inter School Chess Tournament is one such competition which is organized by our school to evaluate the acumen of the participant in a game which is considered to be one of the oldest games in India. More than 100 students from many esteemed schools of Faridabad participated in the tournament which was held in our premises. Ms. Alka Chhikara, a chess enthusiast herself and currently the General Secretary of All Faridabad Chess Association, and Mr. Dharmendra, a member of the Faridabad Chess Association and an adjudicator graced the occasion with their esteemed presence. The celebration started with the lighting of lamp. Our respected Principal ma’am welcomed the Chief Guest and Guest of Honor. She also gave an impressive and powerful speech reminding the students about the importance of sports in their lives. She encouraged students to play the tournament with the best of spirit.
Students were categorized in U -09 boys and girls, U – 12 boys and girls, U – 14 boys and girls. Students played many rounds with great enthusiasm.The school felicitated students who secured top 10 positions under various categories. All students got participation certificate. The tournament concluded with speech by Chief Guest and National Anthem. Extraordinary spirit was well exhibited by the students as well as the teachers to make this event successful. This event also speaks for the commitment that all of us in the school hold for the sport.
