LITERARY WEEK REPORT

‘Language is to the mind more than light is to the eye.’
English literary week was organized with great enthusiasm in K.R. MANGALAM WORLD SCHOOL, FARIDABAD on 9 May 2019 for classes III TO VIII with several motivating and inspiring activities to hone the skills of the students.
Class III
Inter – House English Recitation Competition: This competition was conducted to expand student’s experience, exposure to poetry, to build up confidence and expression of the children. The students were given few topics to prepare like Summer Season, Rainy Season, Love For animals and Birds.
GRADE IV
Inter-house JAM- Just A Minute session, in which each child spoke on a topic for about a minute. This helped the children from the different houses to think off their feet, generate different ideas, and enhance their communication skills. The children were judged on the basis of their presentation skills, aptness, content and voice modulation.
Class – V
Book Cover Design: It was about encouraging, nurturing and showcasing every child’s natural creative flair. The motive of the competition was to make students self reliant and explore the extent of their imagination which would enable them to express themselves without any fear.
Class – VI
Ad Mad: Students of grade VI an opportunity to bring out their talents and creativity. The aim of this competition was to provide a platform to participants to explore their creativity and articulation skills on stage. It was expected from the students that they should get equipped with the knowledge of Ad-making and execution of it. Participants were suggested that their Ad should contain the essentials of Advertisement, i.e. clarity, creativity, appeal, & simplicity.
Class – VII
Role play on Idiom: Students of grade VII created images to convey meanings beyond the literal interpretations of the words. The prime motive of this activity was to enhance and develop their creative skills with critical thinking while expressing their ideas.
Class – VIII
Personification of any literary character: The competition was organised for students of grade VIII with the aim to develop the illustrating power with life skills in them. The students were judged on their creativity, content ,confidence and over all presentation.
The Principal, Ms. Manmit Behel Sabharwal explained the students the importance of reading and how reading can develop good listening and speaking skills.
