We owe almost all our knowledge not to those who have agreed, but to those who have differed.
Charles Caleb Colton
We have been conditioned to treat children differently. In our minds children are a bundle of joy and energy; energy which needs to be channelized and promoted. Our classrooms are the hub of this significant activity.
Adults, tend to think of themselves as sanctimonious, when it comes to teaching our children! It’s time now to change this belief about ourselves and our children. Teaching and parenting is a developmental journey along with the childhood; with all three –the teacher, parent and the child learning to grow and growing to learn!
Children have a novel understanding of life. The world in which they are growing, is dynamic, is faster and does not believe in adherence. It is quite different from our world, when we were kids. Hence same rules and formulas do not apply.
By the time they grow up, the future for which we are preparing them for,may never come. So how sure can we be about our training programmes!
In our limited understanding of the unknown future, we have to simply prepare our children to think, to ideate and to search for knowledge…knowledge which Liberates!
Gone are the days, when we would expect same answers to the same set of questions. Now different questions will elicit different answers and no one answer would be right or wrong!
If schools are able to inculcate this mindfulness in our young minds, it would be quite an achievement!
