K.R. Mangalam World School, Gurugram conducted an Orientation ceremony for the parents whose wards are studying in classes XI & XII. The purpose of the orientation was to mark them conscious of the academic system for classes XI and XII and also acquaint them of the trials tackled by the students while appearing for the board exams. At the very beginning the parents were accustomed with the acmes of the board result followed by the brief information of the examination system of these classes. The session advanced with the uncluttered communication with parents about the challenges faced not only by them but also the children at this transitional age.
Parents discussed the importance of these last two years of schooling which are crucial as these decide the future of the child. These career founding years are the foundation of their upcoming career choices. The child is often confused and finds it difficult to cope up with the apprehension due to coaching classes, school, competitive exams and Boards. Henceforth the emphasis was put on the combined role of parents and teachers to help the child get through this challenging phase with soaring altitudes.
Discussion was also done on the communal problem of upholding balance between tuitions and schools. Through recent instances parents were invigorated to motivate their children not to overlook importance of scoring well in XII board examination as compared to the competitive exams.
The other important areas of concern were prevalent absenteeism, increasing burden due to tuitions and the most crucial addiction to social media. Principal Ms. Priya Arora dynamically participated in the interactions and also shared her expertise regarding how parents’ could be vigilant yet have friendly attitude towards their children. Parents found the orientation program very edifying and beneficial.
