Stephen William Hawking Activity Report

K.R. Mangalam World School, South City- I ,Gurugram, always aim at bringing out the talents and abilities of the students enabling them to compete in the fast growing world. Keeping this in mind, the first Club activity for the academic session 2018-19 was conducted for the Middle wing students on 12 April 2018.
The theme of the activity was ‘Stephen Hawking’s life and achievements’. The main objective of this activity was to pay tribute to the great English theoretical physicist, cosmologist, author, and director of research at the Centre for Theoretical Cosmology at the University of Cambridge- Sir Stephen William Hawking, who died at the age of 76.The students of Grades VI-VIII were asked to do a small research on Hawking’s life.
Grade VI students made ‘Bookmarks’ depicting the picture, theories and research done by Professor Hawking. On the same day, the students of Grade VII made collages showcasing the same. Grade VIII students were asked to do the research on few discoveries done by Sir Stephen Hawking. They were divided into group of five to do the research and then they showcased their research work in the class in groups followed by a group discussion.This fun filled activity was helpful in putting the students’ creativity on paper. The students worked very enthusiastically and experimented with different shades of colours to flaunt their artistic portrayal and imagination. The activity helped the students to exchange their research and views about Professor Stephen Hawking and diversify their horizons of knowledge.
