“The festivals give us a rainbow for the storm, a
smile for every tear, a promise for every care, and
an answer to every prayer.”
Festivals are a part of our culture. India is known for its various colourful festivals that are celebrated all around the year. These festivals bring people together and create a sense of belonging in the community. It is important that our children should also give due respect and love to all religions and festivals. Celebrating events and festivals at K.R Mangalam World school has become an integral part of learning and building a strong cultural belief. Carrying on this practice, Baisakhi celebration was held on 13 April 2022 at Paschim Vihar branch with zest and fervour. Little mangalites were looking adorable in the ethnic attires. The day began with thanking the almighty for His divine grace and was carried forward by a general discussion about the various aspects of celebrating Baisakhi. Power Point presentations, flash cards and the concrete objects were used by the teachers to show the Punjabi culture to the students. And they were also informed bout the birth of Sikh religion. The concept of Harvesting of crops and the hard work of the farmers was explained to the kids. They took keen interest in the discussion and expressed gratitude towards the farmers. They were also briefed about the Gurudwara visit and serving Langar among the devotees.
To make the students enthusiastic about the festival, some engaging activities were organised for them. They all danced on the beats of the dhol which brought vibrancy to the environment and had lots of fun. K.G students presented Punjabi folk songs with confidence and passion.
The teachers motivated the students to respect and celebrate all the religions and festivals together.
