WORLD MILK DAY
“Our first food is the water, the milk which planet can’t feed except mother.”
World Milk Day was introduced by the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations to recognize the importance of milk as a global food, and to celebrate the dairy sector, every year on 1 June. Milk is one of the staple foods of the country.Considering the fact that over six billion people worldwide consume a glass of fresh milk in the morning to kick-start the day, it’s no surprise there was a need to celebrate this healthy, delicious beverage!
Keeping this in mind ,little Mangalites ofK.R. Mangalam World School, PaschimVihar celebrated ‘World Milk Day ‘ virtually . The teachers imparted knowledge on importance of drinking milk as it is rich with calcium, a mineral that promotes healthy teeth and bones.The children were also apprised of versatility of Milk as it is used to make porridge, smoothies, oatmeal, coffee, soups, puddings etc. and also is an essential ingredient for dairy foods such as butter, cream, ice cream, curd and cheese.The children also raised a glass of their favourite flavoured milk or milkshake along with their class teacher and connected with others to join the celebration that the goodness represents. It allowed us to share the stories about all the goodness of milk and all the people who produce it. These special moments of that beautiful milk moustache after drinking that glass of milk, were captured in pictures.
Children excitedly participated in the celebration and finished their glasses of milk which boost their confidence and enriched their knowledge about importance of drinking milk for their physical and mental growth.
