Science Week Celebration


K.R. Mangalam World School, Faridabad organised a science week competition in the month of November.Students of classes II to VIII participated in the competition. The objective of this competition was not only inculcate scientific attitude and research mindedness but also create interest in science. Class wise different activities were organized in school on that day. Students were excited to conduct the activities assigned to them.
To enhance the confidence and speaking skills of the students, an Elocution Competition was organised for the students of grade II. The young story tellers used a variety of props and costumes to enact the stories that led to prominent scientific discovery.

The students of class III participated in Model Making Competition. They were asked to work in groups according to their houses. Each house was given a topic related to our body system like digestive system, breathing system, nervous system and excretory system. The work was divided among students; it was fascinating to observe young minds working together with such a spirit. This activity not only helped students to revise the concept done so far but also gave them a platform to develop their fine motor, social, cognitive and linguistic skills.

The students of class IV participated in Model Making Competition. All the students eagerly participated in the competition. The students were given the topics, house wise, and they worked in groups. The topics given were “The solar system”, “Windmill, “Water Cycle”, “Digestive system”. The students divided the work amongst and worked with great team efforts. They presented the model given to their team.

To develop scientific temper, attitude and values such as open mindedness and intellectual honest, a Poster Making Competition was organised for class V. Students came forward to take part in the activity with a lot of vigour and enthusiasm. They acquired understanding of scientific concepts, principles and laws. The teacher has given few topics related to Earth and its environment to the students. It involved the students to participate in activities so as to understand the cognitive, affective and psychomotor aspects of the task.

Debate Competition for class VI was organized on the topic Pros and Cons of world of gadgets. The class has been divided into two groups. The teams were well prepared and they used various skills like overstatement, definition, rhetoric, irony etc. to convince the audience. The participants, armed with statistics and data validated and made their arguments more emphatic with right facial expressions, body movements and gestures. All the teams exhibited great oratorical skills. The debaters displayed confidence in presenting their arguments before the class and judges.

The students of class VII participated in Working Model Making Competition. The students were given the topics house wise and they worked in groups. The topics were given Working model of drone, Life cycle of silkworm, Working model of lungs and working model of helicopter. The students divided the work amongst and worked with great team efforts The students of class VIII also participated in Best out of Waste Model Making Competition. The topics given were creating working models from waste materials. They had to create either an Electroscope, Vacuum cleaner or Water dispenser. Students demonstrated excellent team work and a spirit of healthy competition. They explained functioning of models in an impeccable manner and impressed the judges with their exemplary explanations.

School principal Ms. Manmit Behel Sabharwal appreciated the efforts put by students and the teachers. The winners were awarded certificates.
