REPORT ON HANDWASHING DAY
“Good Health and Hygiene go hand in hand.”
Global Handwashing Day, celebrated on 15 October every year, is an international handwashing promotion campaign to motivate and mobilize people around the world to improve their handwashing habits. The global campaign is dedicated to raising awareness and understanding about the vital importance of handwashing with soap as an easy, effective, and affordable way to prevent the spread of illness and save lives.Washing hands from time to time is imperative for maintaining hygiene.
To inculcate the habit of handwashing amongst children, ‘Hand Washing Day’ was observed for students of classes I – III at K.R. Mangalam World School, Vikaspuri. The teachers repeatedly impressed upon the importance of washing hands before and after meals and told the studentsthat whenever a child eats with dirty hands, he/she exposes himself/herself to many infectious diseases. Teachers also highlighted the elevated importance of handwashing during the COVID-19 pandemic as a method to prevent the spread of the virus. Teachers shared with the students the right way of washing hands.Children retain wellwhen they do things on their own. Students of classesIV and V performed an experiment of soap and pepper Handwashing activity. Through the experiment they understood that how soap works byrepelling the pepper in the water. The students enthusiastically participated in the activities. The aim was to remind our students that handwashing with soap and water is one of the best steps we can take to avoid getting sick and spreading germs.
