“Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self.”
Yoga is an invaluable gift of ancient Indian tradition. “Yoga is not just about bending or twisting the body and holding the breath. It is a technique to bring you into a state where you see and experience reality the way it is. It embodies unity of body and mind; thought and action, harmony between man and nature and a holistic approach to health and well being. Since its inception in the year 2015, June 21 is celebrated as the International Day of Yoga all over the world. This idea was proposed by our honourable Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi. The theme of this year 2022 Yoga Day celebrations was ‘Yoga for Humanity’.
To mark the International Yoga Day 2022, K. R. MANGALAM WORLD SCHOOL, Vikaspuri and Paschim Vihar branch organised a Yoga session in the school premises. Students of both the branches along with the teachers performed yoga in unison towards better health and wellness for all. The Physical Education department demonstrated various asanas. It was followed by omkar chanting.
Several benefits of practising Yoga were explained to all the participants. The boundless peace of doing the Asanas was amply visible right on the faces of the students and the teachers. Their zeal to stay fit was well evident in the large number of participation. The day reflected the school’s commitment to bring Mangalites together to perform yoga and promote holistic health of every individual.
