In the wake of closure of schools due to Covid-19, K.R. Mangalam World School, Vikaspuri has come up with an action plan for the students to ensure that theyremain focused on the learning challenge faced due to this medical emergency.
The online sessions conducted for the Pre-primary classes took the initiative to teach them by providing virtual instructions and assignments. This virtual teaching and learning program has really helped the parents and teachers to keep their kids engaged and up-to-date with their lessons .The teachers are providing informative, interesting videos, PowerPoint presentations and related worksheets based on different topics like letters, numbers, coloursetc for the young ones.
The teachers are also encouraging and motivating the children to stay safe in their homes and wash their hands frequently to help limit the transfer of bacteria, viruses and other microbes.The virtual teaching material is truly helping the children by keeping them engrossed while spending quality time with their families.
The approach adopted for the Primary Class students is graded up to acquaint and familiarize the students with the concepts necessary for the new session. PowerPoint presentations are being uploaded with voice over text by the teachers. Worksheets along with the online links for study material are also being sent to reinforce the concepts. The students mail the worksheets back to the teacher for an appraisal. The aim is to give the students an exposure to the syllabus of the coming session.
Students of the Middle Wing are being guided through worksheets, which are being used as instructional tools, having information, explanation, links and videos and a series of sample questions to impart knowledge to the learners in a very systematic manner. Worksheets are being sent to the learners as per the schedule for their regular engagement with the subject and its related content.
A weekly online sessionschedule with a time slot of 40-50 minutes shared with the senior students ensures preparedness and helps in maintaining continuity for the students. Teachers take the assistance of PowerPoint presentations, video sharing, worksheets, revision notes and black-board teaching over the virtual medium to help the students understand the concept. Follow-up assignments over the existing portal of the school and class groups further assist the students to re-inforce the concepts learnt. Online TED Ed session was also conducted over the virtual platform for the senior students.
The parents appreciated the efforts of the management and the teachers in coming up with an alternative mode of instructions for their wards.
