Our history is replete with stories of our freedom fighters who gave their all so that we can be proud citizens of a free India. We owe a lot to them. In an endeavour to salute their efforts on the 71st Republic Day, the students of Class V-A organized a special assembly for the Primary wing of K.R. Mangalam World School, Vikaspuri on January 24, 2020.
With Freedom in mind, faith in words and pride in each student’s hearts the assembly began with a poem titled “Where the mind is without fear” by Nobel Laureate Gurudev Rabindra Nath Tagore. This poem served as a beautiful illustration of Tagore’s vision of a new and awakened India.
Students showcased how the Constituent Assembly drafted the Constitution after a long-awaited series of 11 sessions, 165 days of discussion and with 299 members including Sardar Vallabhai Patel, Acharya Kriplani, Jawahar Lal Nehru and Maulana Abul Kalam Azad all led by Dr. BR Ambedkar also known as the Father of the Indian Constitution.
Today, we always tend to remember our Fundamental Rights but often forget our Fundamental Duties, however the students made a deliberate effort to equally highlight the both our Rights and Duties to truly bring out the essence of our Indian Constitution.
The assembly eventually culminated with a song Sare Jahan se Accha Hindustan Humara, which left the parents and students teary eyed.
This assembly was our small yet compelling attempt to let every teacher teach their students how to love our nation and let every parent instill in his or her sons and daughters the beauty of our nation.
Happy Republic Day!
