“Science is a way of thinking much more than it is a body of knowledge”.
Carl Sagan,
Students of class XI along with two teachers went for a visit to the National Science Centre on 26th April 2019. The students found the centre easy to navigate and informative. There were a number of galleries dedicated to a particular theme designed in such a way that one gallery led to another and students were easily able to find their way through the building.
One of the galleries was dedicated to Water conservation. There were a number of informative displays about the quality, usage, availability of water worldwide. The information sensitized the students towards the need for conserving water. The history gallery enlightened the students about the Harappan civilization and life in the historical past. There were a wide range of models showing the history of science in ancient India. The Gallery of ‘Science and Fun’ was the biggest crowd puller. Students enjoyed the activities demonstrated and were able to understand many scientific concepts.
Students were thrilled to see the dinosaurs in the Jurassic Park section. They also learnt about different types of dinosaurs and the story of their extinction. Overall it was a great learning experience for the students and was thoroughly enjoyable at the same time.
