What is Multiple Intelligence Theory?

Howard Gardner postulated this Multiple Intelligence Theory in 1983, stating that there are eight intelligences in every child that need to be nurtured and developed equally. Children are gifted in every area of intelligence that should be included in the teaching equation, rather than just focusing on linguistic and logical-mathematical intelligence, as done in the conventional education system.

The eight intelligences proposed by Gardner are linguistic, logical-mathematical, musical, spatial, bodily-kinesthetic, naturalist, interpersonal, and intrapersonal. Each of the intelligence areas manifest different ways of learning, thought process and problem-solving abilities. This is why children having different levels of intelligence need to be taught and trained in a different way to help them excel in their own uniqueness.
